Detailed Narrative Description of Project:

Title: 
Workshops on Institutional Capacities of P & D Department

The workshops focused on community participation concepts and possible modes of cooperation between government departments, NGOs and communities. Other activities included seminars and visits to help P&D personnel come to grips withcurrent issues in development, such as participatory approaches in projects, the roles of the governments and NGOs, women in development and social and environmental impact assessments. Practical examples pertaining to the Sindh Arid Zone was used for learning experience. 

Detailed Description of Actual Services Provided by your Company:

A series of workshops on assessment, project development, appraisal, report writing & computer skills were organized and conducted. These dealt with basic concepts and techniques addressed, design, appraisal, & implementation of projects. The workshops introduced & reinforced several key themes such as participatory development, community based sustainable development, gender issues, & environmental concerns. Workshops were based on assignments that were 'real' (not fictional exercises) and on learning concepts & then applying them in practical work.
