Detailed Narrative Description of Project:
The purpose of the study was to provide an overview of child labour in the soccer ball Stitching centers of Sialkot, Punjab. To identify potential strategies to improve the living conditions of children presently working in the stitching centers of Sialkot.
Detailed Description of Actual Services Provided by your Company:
SICA commissioned Raasta to perform a research study on the role of child workers in the manufacture and assembly of soccer balls. This study assessed the social/ economic impactof the soccer ball industry on Sialkot. Raasta designed and implemented a comprehensive survey on the extent and scope of child labour. The main areas of inquiry were prevalenceof child labour; structure; working conditions of children employed in village stitching centers; socio-economic conditions of the families of children; educational opportunities available; and the advantages and disadvantages of child lobour to the soccer ball industry.
