In the past 20 years,
Raasta has carried out 275 assignments and projects of short and
medium term (ranging from 2 months - 2 years). The top sectors are
health, women's development and gender, reproductive health, community
development, poverty, children's issues, education, water and environment.
It has also carried
out 9 multi-output pilot projects and institutional development
programmes of long term (from 2 - 4 years). Of these 3 were in the
water and sanitation sector, 1 in the environment sector and the
rest in poverty, capacity development, training and public-private
partnerships. The individual outputs (e.g. research studies, training
modules, strategy papers etc) from these assignments number 132,
of which 65 are in water and sanitation, followed by capacity development,
women's development and health.
For the short and medium
term assignments, Raasta's top client over the last 20 years has
been UNICEF (54 assignments and projects), followed by the Government
of Sindh (27 assignments). Others among the top ten include Asian
Development Bank (ADB), World Bank (WB), Swiss Development Cooperation
(SDC), Department for International Development (DFID), UNDP, ICCO
and NOVIB.
The long term work
includes direct consultancies as well as subcontracts or consortium
arrangements on projects funded by WB, UNICEF, DFID, ADB and SDC.
Senior staff members
of Raasta have also worked as individual consultans on 75 studies,
assignments, policy papers and missions.
